Alicante Henri Bouschet

A hybrid between Grenache and Petit Bouschet, made by Louis and Henri Bouschet in 1855, this is a vigorous hybrid that is sensitive to rot, downy mildew, and grapevine trunk diseases. Clusters are medium to large and berries are medium. The variety produces full-bodied, highly coloured wines (may lack finesse and elegance). Time of budburst is slightly later than Merlot, with maturity up to one week later than Merlot.
