Carmenère

Widely planted in the Médoc in the early 18th century, and now enjoying a resurgence in Chile thanks to some exceptionally good deep coloured, full bodied wines produced there. Controlled yields create wines with the charm of Merlot and the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon. Bud burst about one week after Merlot, maturity around the same time or a few days before Merlot. Can be susceptible to coulure.
