Malvasia Bianca is one of Italy's most widely planted white varieties and one of the most quantitatively important wines in Tuscany. Sometimes used for blending with Trebbiano, and also used in Vin Santo, Malvasia can be slightly prone to oxidation. A typical component of Italian blends such as Frascati, Marino and Est!Est!Est! Makes spectacular dry wines in Friuli, and notable sweet wines in warmer regions. Already substantial plantings of this variety in California, where it enjoys considerable popularity as a tangy, off-dry white with character.
