Riversun Returns to Avocados
Excellent fruit starts with excellent planting material, and we're devoted to helping avocado growers develop the best possible orchards. Ensuring your access to quality nursery stocks, Riversun has joined forces with the Avocado Industry Council to import 15 new avocado varieties and rootstocks into New Zealand.
We're delighted to offer an extensive range of certified fruiting and pollinator avocado trees grafted onto a choice of clonal or seedling rootstocks.
Clonal rootstocks are now the preferred choice in many avocado-growing countries because they provide one or more of the following benefits:
- Increased tolerance to fungal root rots, especially to Phytophthora
- Higher yields
- Lower operating costs
Our imported selections
Material sourced from overseas suppliers selected by Riversun and the Avocado Industry Council won't be found at other New Zealand nurseries.
Our staff can advise you on the pros and cons associated with seedling versus clonal planting material, and keep you informed as new imports become available for sale.
High-health Plants
Throughout our evolution, the nursery's goal has remained constant: to provide plant material that is true to type, of high health and known virus status, and produced to exacting physical specifications.
Certified Production Methods
Riversun uses the HACCP protocol (Hazards Analysis of Critical Control Points) in its propagation and production of certified planting material. To confirm compliance, the company's operating protocols are independently audited by SGS (Société General Surveillance) - an accredited international auditing body based in Switzerland.
