Riesling

The great white wine variety of Germany. Wines typically have good acidity and fruit qualities, and can be cellared for significant periods. Wines can be made at all levels of sweetness. A cold-hardy vine, although it needs favoured and sheltered sites in order to ripen fully and yield economically. Frost resistant; produces best wines over long, slow ripening period.
