Riversun Premium Plus Selection

 Propagation material positively selected for multiplication from commercial vineyards or from Riversun germplasm blocks.

  • Are PCR tested for 13 viruses,
  • Are ELISA tested (by the Linnaeus Elisa technique protocol) and delivered free of Leafroll viruses types 1 and 3
  • True to type - ampelographcially checked and confirmed as being true to type. In 2000, Riversun staff were trained by Jean-Michel Boursiquot, then director of ENTAV (the world's leading viticultural breeding organisation)
  • Are certified vines. This means they have been through Riversun's certification process, a strict risk management programme based on HACCP principles. The 'Riversun process' is independently audited by SGS, the Swiss based auditing company
  • Are V grafted
  • Have been field grown for one season and delivered as bare rooted vines or grown in pots for delivery of the season grafted
  • Meet or exceed minimum physical specifications in terms of:
    • Diameter
    • Top growth
    • Root volume
    • Graft union
    • Stem length
  • Are bundled and labelled into lots of 50 maximum
  • Have labels that provide information about
    • Variety
    • Clone
    • Class (certification status)
    • Graft lot number - which can be used in tracing all critical processing points back to selection source block
  • Are selected from known source vines for:
    • Fruiting quality
    • Vine characteristics
