One of the noble red wine grapes, capable of producing serious wines capable of significant ageing. The variety behind the durability of Hermitage, perhaps the finest French manifestation of Syrah. Relatively productive and disease resistant. Sensitive to coulure. The wine's deep dark dense qualities are greatly reduced once yields are allowed to rise. Has a tendency to lose aroma and acidity rapidly if left too long on the vine. Known as Shiraz in Australia, the variety is more commonly referred to as Syrah in New Zealand.
Budburst - Late , Harvest - Midseason

Good flavours
